Hi all, I'm arranging at meet up in London at some point in May 2015. I went on my first meet up in February 2015 and I was incredibly nervous but it was one of the most validating experiences of my life: meeting other people on the spectrum, being able to talk openly about my experiences and issues, talking to people whose brains work just like mine and not being treated as a quirky freak were all very overdue and very welcome experiences.

I'm therefore hoping there'll be a few of us at least free in May to meet up. Last time we met up early one Sunday afternoon in the bar at the National Theatre: it's quiet so easy to talk. We later meandered outside and got some food. It was a good place to meet, so I'm suggesting we meet there again. There is also a cafe in the National Theatre, but that was a bit busier. If anyone would rather not meet in the National Theatre's bar, please let me know (I won't demand the reasons why) and if you have an alternative in mind that would be great.

I guess a Saturday or Sunday would be the best day of the week to meet up. The days I can do are:-

Saturday 9th May
Sunday 10th May
Saturday 23rd May
Sunday 24th May
Saturday 30th May
Sunday 31st May

Those who are interested in coming, could you please let me know what days you can't do? Or if you have a reference for days?

Also if you'd like to come but are nervous or have other concerns, please let me know what I/we can do to help ... I don't want you missing out.

Hi. I can't attend any of those dates in May but I'll be in London during June 17th - 19th if anyone wants to hang out at a pub with a jug of pimms or something.

Shall we go with the 23rd or 24th of May? Does anyone prefer Saturday or Sunday?

Yuzu: I'll need to check some dates re 17th -19th June but that sounds good too.

At the moment I could probably manage any of those dates. If people are looking for a very peaceful place to meet, there's a room off the café in the crypt of St Martin-in-the-Fields, near Trafalgar Square. I went there recently with someone from WP, it's one of the quietest places to meet in London and very easy to find.

Okay it looks like Sunday 10th May is now winning.

The bar in the National Theatre was very quiet (we were pretty much the only ones there) and a couple of meet ups have happened there so I think it's a good place to go. Also, there's a food market nearby should we get peckish later!

I agree that the NT offers a lot of flexibility, there is always the option to cross the river later if the weather is good, and the south bank has lot of options.

Hi Kate.

Sadly, I missed out on the last meetup due to work commitments. I would love to attend as i'm interested in meeting other like minded people. However, I couldn't possibly get a Saturday off, so it for me it would need to be a Sunday.

I've never had Pimms before. It seems like it's a kind of drinks you should have only when you're with other people.
It's my dream to share a big jug of Pimms filled with fruits, sitting at a table outside a pub. Silly I know.

Pimm's is mostly popular at Wimbledon, garden/flower shows, outdoor classical music, opera, theater venues, etc. In the summer.

Not seen it too often in pubs, but apparently it was invented in an oyster bar in London owned by a Mr Pimm, when oysters where cheap and plentiful. Not sure about the combination of the two, though.

Righty-ho. Let's go with meeting on Sunday 10th May at 2pm in the bar at the National Theatre. Looks like there'll be a nice small group of us. Please still come even if you haven't posted a reply to this topic yet!

I should have said that since it worked so well last time, I'll put an orange or satsuma in the middle of the table so we can find each other easily.

Please bear in mind there is a cafe and a bar at the national theatre: we'll be in the bar area.
