Ok, so there's this guy at college.
I don't know much about him, he's a private person. But I've known him since last October and he knows so much about me. We're quite close, I suppose you'd say. Well, for me this is the closest friendship I've ever had. He's always been there for me when I'm down, saved my life countless times. He understands me better than I do by far, which is quite odd. He also teaches me and explains social things for me, or anything else I don't understand.
Well anyway. I think about him a fair bit (though not in a love way). And before I see him (on the way to and from college on the bus) I get really nervous. And he's leaving college really soon, like, in two days time. And then he's off to uni and I won't see him again. I'm really sad about it .
I had a breakdown/meltdown/somethingelsedown over it once after college, and he helped me. I didn't tell him the reason why I was upset though.
So am I obsessed, or is this friendship? Thanks.

You aren't obsessed. It's only human to miss things you become attached to (even things/people that you don't even get along with). You should be able to get over this but it might take a little while (probably no longer than a month). Once people reach adulthood they are usually only friends with 25% or so of the friends they had in highschool. Friends usually always eventually become separated from one another even if it's not their choice.

I think I know how you feel. My best friend, the first person I spoke to when I moved here 4 years ago just moved without warning or goodbye or anything. She is the reason I have any friends at all. She sat next to me every day at lunch during the 8th grade and talked to me for a whole week before I would respond to her. She made me talk to people and vice versa. She explained social situations and made bad days turn into great days. Going to school without her there was a nightmare. I really miss her....but what can you do?

Keep in mind, this is the internet age. Goodbye isn't goodbye forever anymore. Thanks to email, IM, social sites like MySpace and Facebook, and of course TXT messages, it is now possible to remain a daily part of someone's life even though they are physically separated by distance. And then of course there are still the old skool ways of keeping in touch, like snail mail and the telephone.
