Question for those in Dallas/Ft. Worth
I hear good things about Dunn Brothers in Addison, although I have never been and am not quite the coffee drinker. They have live music, and also serve beer and wine (which I do tend to enjoy )
Starbucks blows, and will fall along with the rest of the Empire, when the time comes.

I can't say as I have a clue what an "indie film theatre" is, but as a long time resident of DFW several years back, I can describe some of the "artsier" neighborhoods.
Deep Ellum is largely a night life area, replete with tatoo parlors, art galleries, bars and rave clubs; a popular hang out for the younger set.
Greenville avenue seems to cater to 30 somethings, again with many bars and boutique businesses. The old Munger historic disterict is right around the corner from there, and is where the movers and shakers of the '20's lived. It has undergone urban renewal and has a largely yuppy population.
Oak Cliff is the former home of Stevie Ray Vaugn, and is racially diverse and seems to consider its self the redheaded step-child of Dallas of which it is incorporated. There are a wide variety of people of varying backgrounds and interests, as well as economic means there.
Oak Lawn is the gay disterict in Dallas. As such it is socially liberal, and tolerant of eccentricities.
One caveat: As a twenty year resident of the metroplex, it is my considered opinion that Dallas is the most superficial, plastic, immage concious locality I've ever seen, and I've been around a bit.
I hope this has been of some help.
