I like talking to people, but I also need a lot of time on my own. Otherwise, I start to feel all tense and horrible and end up getting angry or upset for no reason.
How do I politely get people to go away when I need 'alone time'?

For example, this happened earlier today, when my sister was in my room playing on my computer. We were talking, but not much. I started to feel bad, but she was having fun, and I didn't know how to get her to go away without offending her. So I just left the room and went downstairs because I needed to eat anyway. But it's not always time for dinner, so I need another method of getting people to leave! I don't think she would understand if i just said I needed to be on my own now, and I don't think anyone else would either. :?

Simply say, "I'm sorry, I'm not feeling too well right now. I need some time to myself. Can we finish this later?"

If they know about your AS, explain to them that there are times when you just have to be away from people.

Hmm.. I'll try that. Thank you very much.

If anyone else is reading this thread, more suggestions are still helpful - it's got to be better to have many different ways of saying it.

I like your signature. :) I'd also hate to be normal. ;)
