a person who claims to be my friend made a joke (i think it was anyway) accusing me of pushing a female down the stairs ( i did not do it)
someone that i dont know heard my friend saying this and seems disgusted and is telling people and i feel i will get blamed for her falling and may get into trouble
i need suggestions on what i need to do to end this.

I would talk to your friend that made the joke and ask him to tell people that it was a joke. Tell people that you didn't push the person down the stairs, that it was just a joke your friend made.

If you do get into trouble, make sure your friend is there to defend you.

Maybe you should reconsider your friend. If he makes a joke that can get you into trouble, then I wouldn't consider him much of a friend.
