Oh I know, one of those trick question. And I just fell for it. You KNEW I'd click to see what the thread was about.......it's a lure!
But now I'm curious.
Oh, hello!
I noticed you're diagnosed AS. I thought you were HFA. Maybe I didn't remember correctly.
Uh oh - forgot the quote part above, but close enough. Anyway, about the question: I am technically DX'd as HFA but I have much overlap with AS. Then, later, another diagnostician said, AS applies too. But then, HFA is better indicated (different diagnostican) and I think, personally, HFA is more true. Both are adequate diagnostically - choose one.
The dilineation between AS & HFA can be blurry. Hence the discrepency. DSM-IV TR for me is written code 299.00_Autistic Disorder (high-functioning).
But good question sgrannel and you remembered correctly. And I still don't know what OP means. Stereokid isn't revealing either. Curious and curiouser!
About sgrannel's question, related: I think Wrong Planet just has AS (diagnosed), then 'Other Autism Spectrum Disorder,' and that's quite inclusive! HFA is roughly equivalent to AS, sort of.
