I really don't give a s**t if my Honda wakes you OR your kid up at 1 am. Its MY car, its NOT against the law to own it OR drive it. STOP CALLING ME, STOP CALLING THE COPS, I WILL DRIVE IT, I WILL NOT MAKE THE EXHAUST QUIETER. Thank You. It is my God given right to drive the kind of car I so choose. I bet you hicks wouldn't mind if it was a Chevrolet pickup with a rusty muffler. I like my car, sure it has straight through exhaust with no catalytic convertor, it's an R-Title, it's legal. If it wakes your kids up, buy them ear plugs. I am NOT going to change MY life to make YOURS more convienient. Thank You, that is all...

No one thinks about THAT when they blast their Harleys through at 3 am( I get woken up easily by Harleys for some reason).

If they've got a kid, you'll get plenty of noise from that source, but of course, that's 'normal'.

^^ I believe I enjoy all opinions within a dispute. I am not certain that any individual is correct or incorrect in this circumstance perhaps. For instance, perhaps it could be considered that you have been changing your neighbour's lives if your car has been waking them early in the morning and causing them to be sleepy. On the other hand, your neighbours may be responsible for changing your life as they feel unhappy about being woken, and wish for you to change your car that you enjoy. In such disputes, I believe one individual must be the first to accept a potential change, lest the happy conflict continues to become very unhappy and cause further changes in the lives of both individuals. ^^ I am very sorry if this is silly however.

Sometimes I am the first in the street to leave and since I drive a diesel-powered car it has a heavy engine sound. In winter it can be a bit noisy since I have to scrape the windows first.

But I always try to get away as fast as possible, to minimize the sound.

One time somebody complained and I asked if he preferred that I drove into someone because of bad sight (and the associated noise of paramedics and police cars) or I would stay home and receive government money from his taxes? That got him quiet.

Other people make sounds that can annoy me. So when everbody gives a little and takes a little everything should be fine.

They have no right to complain if they blast noise at 3am. Tell them that.

I don't think that abusive letter is going to help.

well considering you live in a neighborhood that is always loud with motorbikes and other stuff thundering by all night, i think anyone who would want to live there should have to put up with lots of noise. if they are in a minority of people who care about noise, then they should move to quieter places.

but if you moved in next door to me (which is 150 feet away and is presently inhabited by ultra unobtrusive geriatrics) at my quiet bushland house, and i heard your car burbling....i guess i would not mind as long as you switched it off soon after you got home. i play extraordinarily loud music at my place until all hours (i have large studio monitor speakers) and i could not be cranky at someone who drives their grumbling car into their driveway and switches it off soon. if people were revving it at 5 am then they would be curtailed.

I have a son who is AS, with a lot of sensory issues. When he was a baby, it was really hard for him to get to sleep. I'd have to nurse him for about a half-hour in a dark, silent room, until he fell asleep. Then I'd carefully put him in his crib. If nothing disturbed him for the next few minutes, he'd be asleep for the rest of the night. But if something DID disturb him, we would have to go through the whole process again. And again. I missed over a year of television (no great loss there) and time with my husband because of the trouble we had with my son's sleep.

At the time, we lived next door to this guy with a motorcycle, which he parked right outside my son's window. This guy would come out and rev it up, VROOOM!! ! VROOOM! VROOOOOOMMMM!! !! !! !, and my baby would jerk awake, and we'd have to start the whole process again.

The guy wasn't just getting on his motorcycle to go somewhere, either. He'd just rev it up a bunch of times and then go back in the house.

I never complained to him, because I hate confrontation, but it truly made our lives miserable.

Just thought I'd share.

I guess the reason I posted that is I get about 5 or 6 complaints a day. Yet, I don't complain when the idiots on the Harleys go by and wake me up at 3 am nor when the hick in the rusty chevy with the back firing muffler drives by.
