It depends on who you're talking to. Just talk about what interests you, but try to keep from sounding like a scientist. If you have to, observe the speech patterns of NTs talking about their interests and put what you learn into practice with your own speech.

Oh, and never EVER talk about the creepy things that go on in your head that would get you put into a nuthouse.

If they're strangers, I'd suggest that religion, politics and sex tend to be off limits.

With friends you should be able to talk about anything, I think.

Canibalism?

Personal financial data like wages and salaries, etc. Certain medical conditions, unless it is superficial, or someone who is a close friend.

That kinda depends on the people, but lets say
toilet visits, people you have killed and what you
like to do in bed. And religion and politics, since
thats just a big waste of time talking about in any
situation. I cant think of one singel occation where
politics and religion would be ok to bring up.

In "polite society":
Religion and politics, apparently, but those are my favourite topics so I talk about em anyway, LOL.

Also, sex.

With friends:

You can talk about pretty much anything, I guess. Except the fact that you think your friend's crush is a [insert unflattering word here]. Even if it's true.

I can think of personal failures, failures of the person you're talking to, sexual experiences and desires, disgusting illnesses... there's more probably.

I've noticed something that both my Aspie friends do which tends to set people on edge. They tend to comment on the person they're talking to such as, "You're funny!" or "Why do you look so serious?" or "You just have the most beautiful look on your face right now..." etc. It doesn't matter if it's a compliment or not. The attention creates a sense of self-consciousness in people and they can't relax. NT's need to put what they look like down at a very sub-conscious level when they're interacting, because they want to keep their consciousness on the topic of discussion. Making their appearance conscious is not good for conversation.

Does that make sense?

It turns out that the correlation between the number of babies born from an average pregnancy and the number of breasts on an animal species creeps some women out. Still no harm done, we just changed the topic.
