I don't know if this is the appropriate forum for this and I apologize if it isn't. You see, I'm in a bit of a pickle. My friend is getting married next year and she asked me to be one of her bridesmaids. Now the troubling thing is that I can't smile naturally for pictures. It looks forced every time. I don't want to ruin her wedding photos by looking stiff. I've always struggled with this and I was wondering if anyone could give me pointers so I could practice throughout the year. :)

I don't think we'd be drinking for the pictures before the wedding. The reception pics would be all right, granted my mother would be pissed to see me looking sloshed in the pics but whatever. As long as I don't do anything stupid, I'll be okay!

Thanks! I'm happy too. She contacted me with the news 2 days before my 21st birthday a few weeks back so I was very happy. It's also good motivation for me to lose some weight too. Maybe that would help with my smile, I dunno. ^_^

Your avatar picture is lovely! You have a good smile.

I've been following your posts....you seem like a nice young woman.

Happy Belated Birthday on the big two-one.

Thanks. That's more of a smirk than a photogenic smile. I can't show teeth in pictures otherwise I look stiff and while smirking is good enough for me, I don't want to take focus off of the bride in the pics. D:

I'm not sure if "neat" is the word to describe myself, but thank you! :D

hmm, I have issues with smiling too, but thats what I get for having partially paralyzed and perhaps atrophied facial muscles. Oh, well, the good thing being no damn wrinkles for me XD

I have this same problem. It's like I can't seem to smile naturally if I know I'm getting my picture taken. Add to the fact that I think I look like Frankenstein.

Try to think about something hilarious just before the picture is taken.

Yes I do this, I also try to think of how happy my girlfriend makes me so that I can have a somewhat decent smile.

Think of something that normally makes you smile. Recall something funny you heard or saw or something you love. Seems to work for me when taking photos.

I'll have to think of what it is beforehand because if its' spur-of-the-moment, I'll spend too much time thinking of the happy thought I'm gonna use. XD
