I love that particular piece!
Wasn't that on the soundtrack for "Collateral?"

Was that riff stolen from James Bond or Mission Impossible?
I know I've heard it somewhere else.

I know it was in both Collateral and Bourne Identity, so if you saw Bourne that's probably where most people are familiar with it from.

Its a good track IMO just because it really has a seared sort of emotional groove, heavy hitting in that sense. Overall though I'm not a big Oakenfold fan, he's ok but in his record selection he's a bit like Nick Warren or John Digweed, real hit and miss. My own favorites for trance back in the day were John '00' Fleming, Mark EG (when he's spinning the deeper acid tech-trance), Paul Van Dyke, and Commander Tom (heh, saw a lot of those guys back at the WEMF parties and yeah, we'd drive to Canada from Ohio for that), and a bit more regional/local TR Generation and Bagodonuts were pretty good. As far as stand alone productions JamX & De Leon (DuMonde), Airwave, Bodyshock, K90, Binary Finary, Digital Blonde, OS/2 when he did make tracks, all pretty solid.

Oakey's the reason I became a DJ at all, and as one of the four "founding fathers" of the club scene in the UK as it were, it's probably fair to say I owe him a great debt. Every time I've seen him DJ he's been outstanding, although in recent years he's gone off the boil in that respect, likewise in production.

This is an OK trance but compared to some of his early work - like his remixes under the Perfecto alias, and especially his work under the Grace alias - this is barely worth a mention to me I'm afraid. However I'll never hold it against him as he's one of my true all-time heroes of dance music :)

Hey Laz, if you do have hook ups with this stuff, if you have any idea where they still sell Red Commie Bastard mix tapes or any of that sort of 1997-99 acid tech trance please let me know, that stuff I think just as much as 1997-98 dark jungle probably had an equal pull in terms of really getting me exited about electronic.

Sorry mate, no idea to be honest, although I do have a mate who runs a record shop so I'll mention it when I see him again next week :)

Actually Laz, I had a streak of good luck. Like I've said, I've looked online and tried like mad in the past but to no avail. Turns out though he does have a myspace and at least semi-retired his original dj name. I don't know what kind of stuff he has posted in his promos just because I don't have audio on one PC and no internet on the other but I may have to hit him up for some mixes.

the asian remix of this track is also very popular. it was used in the nightclub scene in Collateral starring Jamie Foxx and Tom Cruise
