Why be offended? Is there really such a thing as a redneck? Do you know a redneck? Are you a redneck? I thought rednecks are a fictional overeggeration of impoverished white Americans that live as though they come from the late 19th century?

I see that often that southern Americans are insultingly labelled as these characters, like someone calling someone else a barstard. However, like 'barstard', I thought that the term 'redneck' had lost its original meaning and was merely an insult.

However, like many things, I'm probably wrong. If the term 'redneck' is used with simmilar racial or social discrimmination to, say, the tem 'n****r', then I profusely apologise.

I cordially invite you to spend a week in the town that I live in (West Columbia, SC) to show you that they do indeed still exist. I can also show you the differance between Rednecks and "White Trash". My grand White Trash tour of Lexington County will start with the Pawnshops, and Payday loan offices, and Check cashing centers of Triangle city, then a quick jaunt doun US 1 to the Mobile Home Reposession Lot, and a genuine Trailer Park. We can do lunch at Maurice Bessinger's Piggie Park as well. Unfortunately the Meth Lab that was about a block away from where I live is no longer an option, as SLED agents shut it down about six months before I arrived here, but I can show you where it once was.

I'm more of a redneck than most everyone else here. Some consider it a state of mind, or way of thinking.
