Goody's headache #344325 - post pic from your hard drive
ok. I'm no stranger to posting files and pictures, and have a nodding familiarity with HTML.
Suppose I make a picture, and have it on my hard drive, and want to include it in a post? The choice seems to be that it HAS to be on the web, somewhere. I have pictures on the web, but when I post, they don't show up from the sites they're posted at. In fact, people seem to have to join the site just to see them (which is rude, but I'm not the admin there...
Is there some code (HTML code doesn't seem to work) that allows me to just map to the @#$%ing pictures on my C drive?

ok look.
all I know is I have to save a string of information that starts with http://ect..
then click that button next to the utube button
than past that string of information starting with http://ect...
BUT there is already a preset http:// on the dialog box that pressing the mountain button next to the youtube button next to the bold button.
And I ALWAYS have to delete it so the string does not read http://http://ect.
I can't find my clipboard in 2000 home edition or I'd snap shot.
The location is the web address where it is stored.
The IMG portion auto inserts with use of the WP image button.
This probably doesn't help, but if a little of it does, your welcome and good luck!!

No, you cannot do that, unless your computer is running as an internet server with a domain name; this is how the web works. In order to be any use, of course, the server hosting the pix must be up 24x7 online.
I know what you mean about sites one has to join to see the pix; I found out that about google's photo site, one cannot view the pix except from google's own forums. I was fortunate to find a site, but it's been taken down for lack of use, and the admin invited the several of us on it to join his woodworkers site in N.C.; it's only available to N.C. residents, and us few who received special invites.
I don't know where to find a site that lets you post your pix anywhere; I went through quite a bit finding the site that sent me where I am now.

What's wrong with http://photobucket.com ? It's always worked great for me.
Or am I not understanding the question . . . ?
I know, I know... to be honest, I make a lot of pictures. Some I'd like to share, and I already have an online gallery at renderosity (but you have to join), and some few elsewhere.
Now they're (Renderosity) running something called 'Bondware' (nothing to do with secret agents.., and I can specify a file in a directory on my C drive with no problem. I know it can be done, others do it.. Other web sites let me do the same.
I suppose I could post at Photobucket, it's just annoying to have to go through the extra step...
