Is anyone else into metal? Not mainstream metal like Metallica and Megadeth, I mean the semi-underground stuff like black metal, death metal, folk metal, etc. Metal is really great once you get into it. Many metal musicians are influenced by classical or progressive music.
Yep. I used to love Metallica, but now I can't really stand them, except for their earlier albums. Black is listenable, but sounds too tame for me.
I listen to Power Metal, Black Metal, Death Metal, 'Guttenburg' Metal, Folk/Viking Metal (what little I can get my hands on), and whatever metal I happen to find interesting. Of the said genres, I like:
Power Metal: Iron Maiden, Iced Earth, Blind Guardian, Helloween, ElvenKing, White Skull, Symphony X, Manowar, Hammerfall, Nightwish, Sinergy, Demons & Wizards, Ed Guy
Black Metal: Dimmu Borgir, Emperor, Immortal, Bathory (later stuff), Mercyful Fate (not too many others)
Viking/Folk Metal: Finntroll, Adorned Brood, Falkenbach, Thyrfing
Death Metal: Nile, Morbid Angel (some), Cephalic Carnage, Carcass, Suffocation (some), Behemoth (some), Amon Amarth, Amorphis, Children of Bodom, In Flames, Soilwork, Opeth
Miscelaneous: Kreator, Slayer, Mastodon, High on Fire, Lacuna Coil
