Remember, frame rates aren't everything... I had enough of that experience with Flight Simulator. Even if there was a difference, 30 vs. 60 FPS isn't much different. Between 10 and 30 the difference is significant, but anything above 30 the cost of the hardware outweighs the benefits.

I have an extensive experience of FS, even mastering the keyboard controls for an entire year before getting the joystick. (PC simulation games are a niche in a niche, as far as I'm concerned) Many a FS player go straight for a joystick/yoke and are VERY ill-prepared for joystick/yoke failures. I even plan on organizing a competition called the "Longueuil Cup" who will reward the best keyboard virtual pilot.

From what I know is that a few PC games have even found their way under the FAA's hands. (And no console games did)

I notice a difference. What I don't get, though, is how people can be so adamant about FPS higher than 60...I bet half of them don't even know that their monitor refresh is probably only set to 60 in-game.

I have a theory...I haven't done enough research to know for sure, but it seems like 3D games that run at 60 FPS give me motion sickness for some reason. The Sonic Adventure games for Dreamcast, for instance...the first one, running at 30, I'm fine...but the second one, at 60, I can't play for very long.

Sucks =/

The world market is slowly fading into services rather than products, it hurts to see games do as well, but well, it is the future, we are screwed.

If you like RPGs try The Witcher - excellent game.

Companies are not very encouraged to make PC games due to losses caused by piracy , that's why they are going to more secured systems such as PS3 and Xbox360 and so more ...profitable, companies have decided to declare a huge war on piracy (in fact that's the only reason why the cost-efficient HD DVD technology has lost against costly Blu-Ray) .

If piracy problem on PC is solved , more good games would come.

The good news about PC games : the new 'good' built-in ATI GPUs and the upcoming new Intel CPU-GPU(as one) invention would increase the performance of the mainstream PCs and so the minimal requirements for game would greatly increase so companies would be able to increase the range of games' quality.

Piracy is also a big issue with consoles as well... modchips and the like.

I thought it was amd building the cpu-gpu thing (or at least came up with the idea first)... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amd_fusion

Also, motherboards have been sporting integrated gpu's of all brands for years...

Yes, but they're completely useless.

I reckon emulators can do that with some consoles too, even though they are somewhat imperfect.

It's not as widespread an issue, though.

Pirating for PC has become so incredibly easy due to the Internet that a lot of people don't even know it's illegal.

Trying to emulate anything that modern isn't very easy, though...I could be wrong, but I don't think there are any emulators for PS3, PS2, Wii, GameCube, 360, or XBox...and even emulation for older things like PSX, N64, Dreamcast, Saturn, and Nintendo DS is pretty shoddy (in order from best to worst, IMO).

Nintendo has been hitting ROM sites pretty hard, though...especially in the years preceeding the Virtual Console. Seems like they've slowed down a bit lately, though. Seems like instead of sites getting shut down completely, they just have a lot of "This game is ESA protected and is unavailable." warnings on certain franchises.
