I've been avoiding wrong planet recently, but something happened today that was really frustrating.

Today was the Holiday party for where I work.
I had been really looking forward to it for several weeks.
I thought I had it all worked out in my head, only to get there and realize that I was dead wrong.
Even getting into (and later exiting) the parking lot was sensory overwhelming, and I nearly created an accident.
When, I got into the hall where the party was, I was overwhelmed by the size of the dining area, and the number of people in it. My Asperger's brain fought to find the quickest exit out of the building as quickly as I could. The room was packed. I couldn't find any of the people that I take my social bearings from at work. My pulse was racing. Finally, a coworker invited me to an empty seat at his table. During the party, the hosts kept turning the lights on and off to show video clips. People got up on a huge stage to sing horribly, and the hosts kept making announcements on the microphone. All adding to my initial feelings of being over whelmed. I made casual conversation, ate, and departed.

On the drive home, I finally was able to process all that happened.
Sometimes it sucks to have Asperger's.

Ok, I'm a computer guy and it's really great to use XML to help make my text more understandable to people as sometimes my conversation in voice comes out odd to people. Anyway,

Sounds like your Schizoid part is really severe, everyone who is an Aspie is very different, it's a complex condition.

I have little fear of public and events like that, though my hearing loss I was born with makes such noisy events overwhelming rather than the Aspie effect so those kind of things are almost fun to me.

Well at least when I'm not at one!! !

I look forward to them. It's a shame that in employment going to office parties and big meetings are "required" as part of employment.

I was just really disappointed when I first posted.

I just had my hopes up really high, and it came out sh***y.

This is typical of my "Aspie" miss-statements. I forgot the work "might be" regarding 'severe'. A little too gruf for most people.

Thanks for the warning, my good man. I have two holiday parties next week, and I don't have any expectations for those.
