what are your favorite dark ambient bands?

Um, some examples? I can think of some bands that might fit the definition, but I've never heard the term used in an 'official' sense before

those are really the only two i have heard, although i know there's also Funeral. and other ambient bands ive heard are Godspeed You!Black Emperor, Ghosts of the Canal, and Skullflower.

im mostly into the dark ambient bands that related to black metal

emperor mixes amient(just a little bit) classical and black metal together


i recomend

In the Nightside Eclipse

YEAHZ!! ! I've been looking for a list like that for almost a decade! Thanks a million, buddy! That's my brand exactly! :)

The measly list I've been able to put together looks like this:

* The Orb - Cydonia (if you count that as dark, since it's certainly not black, but have so many strange sounds it's definitely a bit eerie).
* Plastikman - both their albums (last I checked there were two, at least)
* The Great Beast Speaks CD2. The first one contains Crowley's ritualistic stonecake rants, but the other side has only sounds of rattling chains, whispering voices, other metallic, raspy sounds etc.
