neuroman,
I had no idea about the gluten thing. A girl I used to haing out with in HS has a daughter with a severe disibility (they havent ever fully diagnosed it though) is being put on a gluten free diet to try to help her. I knew that diet sodas (which I have been consuming everyday now that I think of it) mess with seritonin levels and can cause other issues, I guess I need to lay off them again, hadnt thougth of that in a while though.... I do have a reaction to the RGbH that they give cows to produce more milk, I drink organic milk now when I can find it, that eliminated 90% of the issues I have with Dairy. The gluten thing, wow. That blows my mind. I will have to look into it.

My family is a very huggy family. most of the time its not that big a deal, but when its in great quantities (like holidays, funerals, weddings, etc) I get on edge. I agree that a lot of my problems were mostlikely senosry overload related. I talked to my younger sister yesterday, calmly, about the photo thing. She wasnt receptive. The chat we had yesterday almost resulted in more problems. I made a sarcastic remark earlier in the day and she said it was "the most hurtful thing {I} ever said" because of the tone I used. I'm not monotone like many aspies, I tend to have the wrong inflection in my voice though, so things sound really bad when they arent meant to. I tried to explaine that but, *sigh* she didnt believe me. I never realized that my tone was so "off" till I took a job out of town this past summer and people were "so kind" as to point it out. I dont know if that's an accual "aspie" trait, but my DR seemed to think it was possibly related to AS. Its so weird though now, knowing that some things that I do ate related to AS. its like a window has been opened up and I can see things better, but I havent got the tools to fix or adjust what I need to to get along. I have the desire to socialize, but lack the ability. Knowing whats wrong helps me to feel better to some degree because I dont feel like a nutcase, but at the same time it makes me wonder about alot of things. I dont plan on telling my employers about it when the offical DX comes down because I honestly think they'd call the company lawyers to see if Im a libility and the company dr to see if I need to be "recleared". I AM goint to further reserch the rights I have and what can and cant be done to me employment wise. My cuz is a fantastic lawyer here in town and thought I would never take that route, I know that its there none the less. LOL look at me Im starting to ramble. Thank you for the input and information. I AM going to reserch the guten thing. I'd hate like heck to give up bread, but if it helps, it will be worth it.

Before you start on a new diet, research it first. Talk to people who are on a gluten-free diet (for whatever reasons) and see how they manage. The more research you do on restrictive diets (talk to someone who has allergies to foods), the more you'll find out.

For non-dairy stuff, there is a lot of great food out there, like soymilk and rice milk. Also, since a lot of Asian people are lactose intolerant, finding Asian resturants and stores that will have foods without milk and cheese is a heck of a lot easier than finding American resturants that do.

About the AS, I am probably rather fortunate because I can almost pass of as an introvert with clumsy social skills. I think one of the main problems with AS is that we will say/do something and mean it one way and everyone else will interpret in a completely different sense.

Namiko,

I have an aunt on a gluten-free, dairy free, redmeat free diet do to severe severe cielac. she gets along ok, but its very hard to cook for her. I plan on looking into it, I may taper off some of my intakes (one thing at a time) and see at what point I can tell a difference. I already buy as much organic dairy as I can get, and organic foods for work when I can as well. I read that soy was very bad for thyroid though. There is SO much information on the web that its difficult to know whats accurate and whats not.
