My great grandmother was a very brave person, still staying active even though she was placed in a home for older people. She got angry some of the time, but most of the time she was happy. I will always remember many good things about her. She had been in pretty good health, only suffering a slight stroke and falling twice. She had managed to persevere an awful lot despite all this.

Unfortunately, she passed away last Sunday night at the age of 101. I know, this was not a good thing to have happen just before Christmas. The good news is, her death was peaceful. Very sudden, but peaceful. She had told one of the staff in her residence that she loved her children, her children being my grandparents or my mother's mother and father. i am grateful that she lived for as long as she did, and she is where no one can play with her.

I'm sorry. I'm glad to hear that she lived a long life and that she passed away peacefully, however.

Be well.

So sorry to hear of the death in your family. It is a blessing that she had her mind until the end of her life. Many elders are not so fortunate. I have spent most of my career working in nursing homes. They are not bad places, just not home. Again, my condolences. Pink

Really? What did you do in a nursing home? Regardless, thank you!

I am a registered nurse. I have spent most of my nursing career in nursing homes. I was also a school nurse, public health nurse and hospital nurse at one time or another. Now I work in a behavioral health unit of a hospital. Guess what, I'm old! Pink

Yes, but 101 is a long time to live. I appreciate that all of you have sympathized.

Now, in two days, it will be a new year, and I have quite some resolutions. I will have to work very hard to keep them. Boy, will that be great?
