Just wondering how The Fragile's storyline goes. I know it begins where The Downward Sprial leaves off with the suicide of the protagonist. :?: :?:

Big long complicated storyline i can't figure how it goes.

Somehow I doubt there's a real connection like on The Downward Spiral. He might have taken a bunch of songs and retrospectively thrown them together, like a bunch of bands have done. If nobody told me that The Band's second album (say) was a concept album, I would never have guessed, same applies here.

I don't know the central concept of this album, but there certainly is one. I think it's similar to Spiral except it involves a lot more fame ('Stafuckers Inc.') and what you have to do to get to the top ('when I suck you off not a drop will go to waste'.)

I don't think that it's as concrete as a storyline. Rather, it's about exploring THEMES of fragility.

"Year Zero" is the one with an actual plot.

Poster above has it right.

Trent was just exploring ideas of things falling apart.
I read somewhere that as Disk 1 progresses, thematically, things are becoming more solid, less fragile, and more safe and secure, but as disk 2 progresses, it's a descent, everything's falling apart.

It's also why Trent used a lot of stringed instruments on that album, because they're un-perfect. And it's why the music starts to sound more and more broken as the entire piece goes on.

But anyway, I hate all this overanalytical stuff, so I'll leave it there.
