This topic = tl;dr
But, I think TC misses the point of MCR's most recent studio release.
It's all about theatricality, bombast, the sheer over-the-****ing-top-ness of it all.
So what if the music's mainly power chords? Why does that matter? They're not trying to be Ynwie Malmsteen for christ's sake.
They're just having some fun.
And if you can't see that's what they're doing, then there's something wrong with you.
And yes, I bought The Black Parade and I enjoy it immensely.
I also own albums from pretty much every genre, from Doom Metal to Death Metal, to hardcore, electronica, ambient, post-rock, whatever.
I'm sick of this polarisation between groups of people that are all equally as close minded and petty as each other.
I love death metal but I in no way associate myself with that crowd because for the most part it's made up of elitist douchebags.
I love emo, the older stuff ala Rites of Spring and the newer stuff ala Atreyu, but I in NO WAY associate myself with that crowd because SURPRISE SURPRISE, for the most part it's made up of elitist douchebags.
I don't associate myself with the electronica, ambient, industrial, hardcore, or anything crowds. Because they're all full of close minded douchebags who all believe that their favourite genre is the Aryan Race of the music world.
People need to grow the **** up and open their minds a bit.
