In my native Belgium there was a boysband who were named... Boysband :?

Also, there is a band called Biljarten Na Half Tien (which is dutch for "Playing pool billiard after 9:30 PM") :?

Another Dutch band is called Heideroosjes (which is dutch for a tiny rose growing in a big open grass field) ; a really sweet name but they make really heavy punk music :)

A band name in Dutch that I do like is Fluisterwood (which is dutch for "whispering woods") ; sounds dark and mysterious and that fits their metal sound. Only black/doom metal band existing that sings in Dutch language.

In Germany where I live now there is a band called Wir Sind Helden (= we are heroes) which I kinda like. Another nice name is Die Sterne (= the stars).

You should call your band that. Oh, you so should. (And then contrive to get booked for New Age conventions as 'R!BD' and not reveal the full name till you get there.)

Some band names I find amusing and/or intriguing:
They Might Be Giants
The Presidents of the United States of America
Pretty Girls Make Graves (that's a quote from Kerouac)
Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly.
And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead
Pop Will Eat Itself
MDC (as in Millions of Dead Cops)
Die Toten Hosen (am I right it means 'dead trousers', crackedpleasures?)
Christian Death (I mention them because they're an old 80s Goth outfit who actually played a pub not far from us a couple of years back - didn't know they were still going, even - and a lady who I swear I know through work wrote to the local paper to complain about the affront to Christianity in the name, evidently having absolutely no idea what kind of band they were.)

Pretty Girls Make Graves were named after a song by The Smiths (which in its turn was named after that quote you said)

Panic! at the Disco is another band named after a Smiths song.

I dislike names that insult religion or refer to satanism though. Christian Death, Satanis Surfers, etc. I am not religious myself so it is not like I feel offended by it, I just find it totally ridiculous to name your band that. When I hear names like that I immediately think of those black metal bands who try to attract an audience of young kids trying to be a rebel. If you are making metal or goth music (and I say this as a goth fan) please do NOT name your band after anti-religious or satanic stuff, and don't name your band after vampires or anything like that. Be a bit more original...

On another forum I go on, they did a thread about names you wish you could call your band.

Maybe someone should start such a thread on WP. I'll start with a fictitious band name my twisted little head has come up with:
Constipated Sloth
