God of War

is anybody else a fan of the God of War series? i recently replayed 1 & 2 (once by myself, and once with my girlfriend who's also a fan) and i hold it up as one of the best series of the last console generation.

God of War 2 in particular I hold up as an example of a near perfect video game. Tight combat that requires more than just mashing buttons, puzzles that don't take long to figure out but still require some brain work, lots of kick ass boss battles, gorgeous environments, and a story that serves the gameplay rather than vice versa. It also got rid of the BS platforming and less-than-intuitive puzzles that took you out of the first game.

I loved GOW2. Never got around to playing GOW1; it's my brother's PS2, hahah.

You betcha! It is probably one of the best, if not THE best, original story to come along for an action game! True, the theme of revenge has been played out more times then I can count in videogames, but the reason for Kratos's revenge does something to the gamers that play as him: they understand...to be set up and tricked like that, it would make anybody angry enough to, well...kill a god.

I look forward to part 3 of this wonderful saga!
