i feel weird saying asian or eastern art for fear it will come out racist or something. i dont mean it that way. ugh political correctness! lol.

anyways, today i went to see the hokusai exhibit in DC. it was quite good :D does anyone else like those woodblock type paintings? i think hiroshige and koitsu did similar stuff. and also while i was in the gift shop (cause im a sheep for all those cool gifts museums have  ) I saw a book full of art by Yoshitaka Amano!! ! he's the guy who drew the pictures for the final fantasy games, like in the player guides and in the game menus. i thought that was freakin awesome, i didnt realize he had so much clout outside of final fantasy haha.

yesh anybody else like hokusai? hiroshige? other peeeeople?

Yes!

Hiroshige is one of my favourite artists of all time, and Hokusai too. Utamaro is very good also.
Hiroshige's prints are really luminous and the lines are beautiful and precise and perfect. I think it's a very good and concise way to portray nature.

I like Hiroshige. I'm not as into Hokusai. There is another artist who is not that well known, Harunobu, who I like a lot, as well. His line work and color schemes are much more delicate than a lot of artists' prints.

Amano is amazing, I have his "Biten" artbook- full of beautiful stuff. He did designs for Vampire Hunter D, Hero, and quite a few other things.

I like both Chinese art and Japanese art.
