Basically this is a response to a question nomoreality posted on a previous thread.

I was also ill through my first 2 trimesters of pregnancy. I was completely nauseous and disoriented for at least 6 months but only let myself throw up once. Somebody told me that the nausea and vomiting occur when the placenta is being formed, because the hormones trigger something that affects that part of the brain. The placenta is usually formed in the first trimester, so women who feel sick usually recover after the first 3 months. The woman I was talking to also felt sick into her second trimester, and we both had preeclampsia. I don't know if that has anything to do with it, but that is what we noticed we had in common.

Yes, I had very high blood pressure. Every single female on my dad's side in my family has shockingly high blood pressure from quite a young age (most of them are slim and active by the way). But, in my case, although they thought it might be pre-eclampsia and were always waiting for it to turn out that way, I told them, no, it is just me. I run on a different clock. But it was almost like, even before he was born, he was sending out the wrong signals, bless him!

I had actually a lot less morning sickness in pregnancy with my son who was diagnosed with Moderate Autism. As as issues with false labor and such, I had those type problems with both my autistic son and my non-autistic son. Actually I had morning sickness in first and third trimesters with my non-autistic son.

nomoreality,
Have any of you in the family ever had thyroid problems? I had hyperthyroid as a teen, which raises your blood pressure and makes you very thin. I felt like I had it again while I was pregnant, but the ob refused to give me a test. He said that if I had a thyroid problem, I wouldn't have gotten pregnant.
When you have the blood test, you have to ask them to run all the TH's (or the T's?), because it never shows up on the first one for me but it does on the second.
Well, after I delivered, I lost a tremendous amount of weight and they tested my blood and I had hyperthyroid again. It evened itself out, which is common after pregnancy, but I continue to have high blood pressure even now.

I'll read up on it and see if I can see me there!

It's sounds really stupid but I quite like my high blood pressure because it makes me impatient and short-tempered when I'm trying to get things done. As a child I was always so docile so I love to have that sparkiness now!
