I don't say much until it's a subject I know something about and find interesting. Sometimes not then either. Anything else but the empty talk. I've learned good techinques to "half listen" not listening to the conversation I feel no need to participate in, just standing there, trying to smile a little, and if my radar picks up a reasonable word, I pay attention.
