Right, now that I've got your attention, I have lurked on a few threads and will share some information with you.
(seems to annoy me and fellow WPers)

First, please don't ask for abstract emotional support here, not a lot of WPers seem to be good at it. I'm not saying that you shouldn't, just WP might not be the best place is all.

Second, if you want help, advice is help, accept it as such.

Third, don't expect anyone to be tactful, chances are they don't know how.
Keeping in line with that, please don't be offended by anyone's bluntness

Fourth, use metaphors if you *really* have to but be prepared to explain them.

I have found overwhelmingly (as an NT married to and raising aspies) that most folks on WP are very willing to provide insight, advice, support, and help.

I think a certain bluntness or more accurately directness in manner of communicating is more of a help than a hindrance.

The direction and information I got here (many times just from lurking, reading posts folks dealing with these same issues in their own lives have written about how they deal with things) has helped me greatly in both my marriage and mostly in making my son's life better.

While as a general rule I try not to use idioms or metaphors as my son specifically has difficulty with them (see my sig); when I do slip into them occassionally I've not found that to be a general rule with everyone on the spectrum - as with most things autistic.

It seems to me that if the responses you've gotten in the past to help you've tried to provide has been unsatisfactory, then you should probably just recuse yourself from the "help desk" and hang out here for all the other threads and benefits. I, for one, wouldn't knowingly solicit assistance from someone uncomfortable in providing it.

I've also found (and I'll admit this as being a generalization) that folks here on WP have no problem speaking up about what irks them individually, and directly to the irksome person.

Well then, so we're clear, whom do you speak for?
