Today, the family and I went to look at a house. While said house is in a quiet neighborhood and what may be my new bedroom is larger than mine, the house we saw is about ten minutes from where I live right now. Thus, if my parents were to close the deal, my commute would be longer than it already is, and I would have to deal with whatever baggage that comes with relocating. I was lucky the last time I moved (when I was ten), but it's different this time.

Any thoughts on how to deal with another potential relocation?

Saratoga Springs is nice, and small, and not in New Jersey, where we're moving at the end of the month....after 50 years in California. So I just said to myself.....it's a place....I lived here, now I'll live there. Truth to tell, I'm really miserable about the whole thing, but there are advantages too. New house has a basement.....finished....can't have a basement in California. New house has a swimming pool.....don't have a swimming pool. We can plan more trees (nearly full grown) and build an overhang, and hang up our wind chimes, and I have my family and our animals.....so I just figure everything happens for the best.

Best advice I can give you.

10 minutes! If I hadn't moved closer to my new job, my commute would have gone from 10 minutes to about 4 hours! I lived that nightmare for 6 weeks. Having overcome that, I do get homesick sometimes. Best I can do is occupy my time with things to take my mind away from home. Go out, explore the area and all I have to look forward to...and know that for now, I can go home again - and do, every other weekend. Of course, with you only moving 10 minutes away it should be MUCH easier.

Then again, I remebering passing through that part of Saratoga County, NY en route to Glens Falls and points north over the years. It's not like we're moving to, let's say, Albany, or even out of state.

Thanx for the advice anyway.
