Today, I was essentially hired to a job in which I will be working in a supervising role, over 14 employees. The people above me will be helping me learn how to do my job. One of the parts of my job they told me about was handing out snacks and toys to the callers who get the most donations from those they call. (This is a phone bank). I want to separate perfomance from being nice, although it looks like I will have to be handing out these goodies. (One they mentioned was maracas.) I don't want to be like the managers described in the brown-nosing bosses thread.

I wonder what in the world I am doing as a supervisor and being a possible aspie, but I need the job. My parents have been hounding me about getting one. Any AS diagnosed individual who has been a supervisor, please reply. I want to know how you handle things from that standpoint. Apparently, I eitherhandled my job interview well or maybe they were just desperate for someone to fill the position, as they sounded that way over the phone. Whatever is the case, I have a job to do now.

I love snacks and toys....what,are these people 5?I was called a "manager" of night staff(only due to seniority)I couldnt hire or fire "my" staff...only be blamed when they didnt do the job I had trained them to do....oh,thats logical. The main problem I have noticed among managers I have had is that they take the brunt of the resonsibility if things go wrong but dont have the power to change things to make them work more efficently because the people who are their bosses make those decessions(and they ussually have no clue what is really going on in the work floor or what is needed)....They also have to fill in shifts when the staff doesnt show up and they are paid salary,so are expected to be oncall 24/7....That is the reason I have stayed in a "peon" position at my company...I can leave the job behind when I want and get to choose and get paid for overtime....

Sorry that was so dang cynical...lol...little job stress latley...what I meant to say ,is....

congratulations!! !!!and Good luck!! !! !

I found a great job at a bookstore that pays more and gives more hours.

Unfortunately, when I called into today to let the people at this phone bank job know that I would be unable to work for them, the lady on the phone (the same who interviewed me) claimed that I lied during an interview and said she was telling career services (which I assume is with the intent to block me from any other jobs that might be available at my university). This claim is incorrect and I am prepared to explain the situation to career services. This situation is annoying, to say the least.

Sounds like this "lady" is either a poor loser of wants you to think she is going to "punish" you...such passive agressive people rarely follow through, they just strike out without thinking...glad you got out.

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. She would have been one of my bosses.
