Ahhh thanks. Me too. I don't care much to be hugged by strangers, and the darned shaking hands thing is just sooo intrusive. :|

^_^ *hugs* I agree, shaking hands is not fun at all. The worst was when I was in Catholic school (I'm not Catholic -- I was sent there because my father said people in a regular jr. high would "eat me alive"). Sometimes during mass we'd have to hug any random person we happened to be sitting near. And we *always* had to hold hands, it seems like. It's almost enough to give me nightmares 8O

Yeah... the tough thing is, I don't like to hurt feelings or cause offense, but people are SOOO used to social rituals like this and they do it without a second thought. When I went to my Church everyone shook hands in the beginning too, but there was an odd veneer of "fakeness" or "superficiality" because after worship time was over, everyone went their separate ways and only the people who arrived as friends really hung out after. It takes a longer time to build a relationship whether it's in or out of a Church, and I could never relate to it myself.

I like the Japanese custom -- bowing.
