Any one have that combo? I feel quite dysfuntional and tired at trying to hold it together to appear "normal" all the time. It's truly exhausting.
Help!!

Not Otherwise Specified... I think it's to do with a diagnoses of aspergers that doesn't fit the normal paradigms.

I don't fit that exact diagnoses. HFA, based on a childhood diagnoses, that I only found out about within the past year. Bipolar/shchizoaffective, also finally discovered within the last year... and this seems to be the diagnoses that has made the most sense of past problems. Don't know how similar that is to the OP.

How are you doing anyway, harobed?

I am doing as well as can be expected. NOS is used in lots of mental health issues to state Not Otherwise Specificed = yes there's a disorder but there are mixtures of problems, etc.

The SPD had me very confulsed. It's similare to aspie, but dx for grownups too.

Having a personality disorder is hard to do.

I;ll let you know.

The DSM-IV-TR breaks diagnoses down into categories. For example, Asperger's Disorder falls under Pervasive Developmental Disorders, and this in turn falls under Disorders Usually First Diagnosed in Infancy, Childhood, or Adolescence. Bipolar I Disorder, by contrast, falls under the Bipolar Disorders, and these in turn fall under the Mood Disorders. The NOS diagnoses are wastebasket diagnoses where the exact diagnostic criteria are not met, but it seems clear something's wrong. So we have PDD-NOS, Bipolar NOS, Mood Disorder NOS, Disorder of Infancy, Childhood, or Adolescence NOS, etc.

So you either have Asperger's syndrome or PDD-NOS but not both; of course, different doctors may have diagnosed you differently over the years. Psychiatric diagnosis is pretty fuzzy.
