Visual learning and foreign language

At school I am studying Spanish, French, and German. I am basically fluent in Spanish now, and I am in the first year for both French and German. I have a bit of an obsession with languages. I have an 'A' in each of those classes too. I learn visually as well for the most part. I find that if you are able to organise the information you are trying to learn into charts, it is quite easy to learn it.

I usually don't have any problem learning languages (some of the only subjects that I don't have to put too much effort in). I think that language just makes logical sense.

I can't learn languages to save my life. The only phrases I remember from my French class in high school are the insults, and I've probably even got those wrong.

I could learn the words themselves by brute force memorization, but the structure killed me. There were just too many exceptions to every rule for me to keep track of. I probably sounded like Yoda to my French teacher.

What you two are saying about languages is exactly how I feel about maths. At least I'm not taking it this year.

Honestly, I think English is one of the hardest languages to learn and I am so glad I am a native speaker. I have utmost sympathy for those who are learning it, and great admiration for those who have learned it.

So many sound changes and an excessive amount of vocabulary. Not sure how many other countries have a Thesaurus, or at least the SIZE of the thesauruses we have. Never realized this until a German said this to me.
