I've mentioned him a few times on here, but one of the greatest inspirations of my life, Devin Townsend, has affected me in too many ways to mention... I was uploading one of the tracks to send to someone and realised I could post the link on here, for all and none to enjoy!

If you like music thats different, powerful, beautiful, overwhelming, yet groovy check out this song.

I'm listening to it, right now. 8)

Is he related to Pete Townsend, by any chance?

Dude, this song is exhilarating! I am adding this to my MP3 player right this moment. I am AS and I have mild hypersensitivity - sometimes just eating dinner is a wild sensory experience for me, so this song is like being on a rollercoaster! 8)

hmmn I don't think so... (pete townsend relationship) My dad actually asked the same question :)

Devin is from canada, he's manic depressive (sorry is bi-polar the better term) and in my opinion has created a genre of his own...

edit: thats exactly how his music hit me :) VERY hard, like a total rush of overwhelming emotion, or to put it another way... truth! :P

He has an album called Terria, that uses the same wall of sound to a much more natural, relaxed effect, which is a lot less of a ride, and much more of a beautiful journey.

Truth is from an album called infinity, the most intense sonic journey I've ever experienced..

I saw him once, supporting The Wildhearts.

Wow that's an awesome song!
It's really surprising to me too, in that I typically HATE metal music. Maybe it's because this song is mostly instrumental, and I don't really like the vocals that I tend to associate with metal music (screaming/shrieking or going out of their way to make the voice sound dark and angry). 8)

There's a great youtube page, also, with several Strapping Young Lad tracks.

I was playing this one a few days ago. He's awesome!

Did you know he had a church?

The worst of his projects is good, the best is simply magical.

I thought that would be humorous with all the new "churches" starting up around here.

I really like a good fan site dedicated to a great artist.
