a gay straight alliance in an australian catholic school?

yes, its going to happen, my friend is goind to try and get an equal rights group set up in my almost fundamentalist school, figur headed by me :D

is this a good idea considering the reputation my school has (highly respected catholic pryvate school)

Even in Canada--a country with an excellent reputation on gay equality, there are setbacks. A young woman tried to start a Gay-Straight Alliance in her Roman Catholic school in Mississauga. The story went national.

It is worth doing, and much can be gained in the attempt, even if the powers that be are not supportive.

@visagrunt: And that happened in Mississauga? Rural Alberta I wouldn't be surprised, but Southern Ontario? Very disappointing. I'm glad my province just has one school system, with nothing to do with religion.
