I'm going on it to help with my psychotic features. Heck, I might be a nicer guy around here if it works. Here's hoping...

I take it too. Works quite well.

Worked great for me, but I have since been weaned off it. My doctor says it's not a drug meant to be taken long term.

Really? How long were you taking it for? I've been on it since middle school. Did your doctor mention any particular risks?

I was on it for psychotic issues to & was on 20mg for a bit & the only way it helped me even on 20mg was by making me tired & extremely weak so I could not concentrate enough to notice anything or have any thoughts or even think. I was on 5mg for quite a while & I was constantly weak & tired, my mouth was dry a lot, I kept sluring & stuttering when I talked, I had twitches & could not focus on anything either. A lot of people thought I was on coke or something except I had NO energy. I'd recommend avoiding Abilify like the black plague because those things were on the 5mg dosage for me

I was on it for about six months. Now these aren't exact words but the gist was that it eats away at the grey matter of your orbitofrontal cortex eventually leading to a decrease in drive/motivation.

restlessness and photophobia seem to be my biggest complaint so far.

Just can't seem to sit still for any period of time and it's so bright during the day. I have to wear sunglasses inside.

Might just have to take an ativan to keep still.

Really. That might explain a bit as to why motivation is so difficult for me. I was on it for quite some time, I've only just stopped taking it.

I'm not sure if I should stay on it after experiencing some side effects that I don't like. Restlessness - everything seems to be a chore, even getting to sleep. Some sexual side effects (getting going, staying going and finishing) and dry mouth. The photophobia, I can just stay inside or wear sunglasses.

I do like my temper control and the feeling I don't have to blame some outside force for whatever goes wrong (paranoia).

Yes, but it still is a very effective drug. I was only on 1mg as I was not taking it for psychotic features and still I could tell a difference on and off of it. I take a small dose of Haloperidol now.

I was given a trial of this but haven't even tried it. It costs about $1K for a month's supply.
