Hi ...I just joined today. I also just finished this 30" x 40" acrylic on stretched canvas of two Jack Russell Terriers today. The painting was done for someone in Alaska so I hope it makes it across the continent in one piece when I ship it

The green and red thing in one dog's mouth is a special frisbee thing in one of their photos

The one on the right looks like my dog, Zipper and on the left, her mother Ropley. BTW, after reading your introductory post, it made me wonder if you know any of the Johnson Space Center Astronomy Club folks. Many of them are astronauts and test pilots, others are with mission control and all of them are neat, neat people.

I hope the painting travels well. I wish I could get a print of that. My dog Zip is an excellent Frisbee dog.

Thanks folks ... she replied that she loved it which is always nice to hear :-)

Stinkypuppy, cute dachshund ... I paint a lot of them hehe. I did 3 on canvases 6" x 36" one time

Davidufo, Glad you liked the sketch too. I mostly do canvas commissions first as a sketch so I can show them the proposed design before starting. After that, just gridding the sketch and gridding the canvas helps transfer the lines (in watery yellow acrylic so as to not show through certain colours on top) onto the canvas (I suppose I could get a projector or something and trace that ;-) . After that, the colours and shading happen as I go. I don't think I could handle following a pre-determined idea that closely as there would be no room for discovery which is the whole point of painting for me.

Davidufo, when I saw your name I instanty thought of a painting I did recently ... titled "Beam Me Up Scotty"

oatwillie, I will have 8x10 and 5x7 archival prints of this. I'll take a more careful shot today in the day to try to get the best photo I can.

I don't know of any of the Johnson Space Center Astronomy Club members. I haven't really been into astronomy for like 18 years. Maybe some day I will get back into it. I used to be a member of the RASC (Royal Astronomical Society of Canada) when I was a teenager.

Your work is excellent. If you could PM a price to me for prints of the two examples above, I am interested. Thanks!

6" x 36" haha
Thanks very much, I've had him for 12 years now, so he's not such a Puppy anymore, but due to his diminutive size he'll always be Puppy to me! :)

Some truly awesome stuff there :D :D :D

The painting of the pups really has a fun feel to it! The colors and the contrast in it are also very nice and quite pleasing to the eye!

"Beam Me Up" is neat too! I like the nightime setting, and the erie feeling of the bare tree
