I know that there are such sounds.

I found some time to the music that helps you fall asleep.

However, I am wondering if there are any sounds that I could listen to on headphones when I read an academic book to make it is easier to memorize

I have several albums and Cds that are just ambient 'white noise' type sounds that really set the brain whirring, while relaxing the body. Among my favorites are "Gentle Rain in a Pine Forest" and several good thunderstorm recordings.

But there are others that are interesting in their own right. One is the sound of tree frogs in the woods at night...another "Tintinnabulation" is the sound of gigantic monastery bells - that one is great for relaxing and meditation...

The first series of these types of recordings I ran across is called "Environments" and I believe they're still available. Try the big 'A-zon.'
