So I've been writing these short stories that are intended to be comics, the reason they aren't written in the format of a true comic book is because well I don't know how to write one. Anyways these comics are based on an old character from a video game I used to play called "City of Heroes."

There is nothing I would love more than to post my first comic issue, but it's about 18 pages long. So I'll just give you the basic outline:

Setting: The fictional west coast city of San (or Santa, I haven't decided yet) Callaesia, a California city located on the county border of Monterrey and San Luis Obispo. The city is the second largest in California, just short of LA, and the fourth largest in the nation. It resemble an urbanized metropolis with little suburbs unlike LA, the city more closely resembles New York or Chicago. There are no other superheroes in the city, most are on the East Coast, but there are supervillains. The only hero is the one the main story follows.

Our Hero: Frost Man, a super-hero with the ability to freeze air and use incredible ice powers. He is tall and physically fit, akin to the way superman looks, but less muscular. Frost Man is very dedicated to protecting all innocents no matter what, he believes people can be reformed and can be brought out of a life of crime. Frost Man can not fly, instead he uses an ice slide to navigate the city. His alter-ego is millionaire Nathan Fremont, a doctor and owner of the "Fremont Medical Company," his alter-ego is that of a young brash party boy, though he has several charities and works in a hospital, Nathan spends most of his free time drinking in bars. A hero who's goal is to defend a city that has been spoiled by decades of villainy and corruption.

Our Villain: Fahrenheit, a super-villain with cataclysmic and destructive fire powers. He has red-hair, and several scarred muscles. Fahrenheit has only one goal: kill Frost man, and everyone else in the city while he's at it. The best to describe him is to picture The Joker but with fire powers. He employs cruel destructive tactics to lure out Frost Man, one of his favorites is to walk into a bank or hospital lobby and then create a fiery explosion killing everyone inside. A villain who's cruelty, and inhumanity have named him one of the worst mass murders in history.

The comics (well the first issue at least) deal with the battles these two have and the havoc that is reaped upon the city. Other issues that I have written involve giant monsters, terrorist organizations, and a dark-cult (who worships Cthulhu-like entities). I'm looking for anyone who can help by giving me advice, or the steps required to writing a true comic book. I am also looking for an artist who can truly bring my visions of a super-hero to life.

Are you familiar with Fiverr? You can find all kinds of help there and their prices start from $5. I linked the comic book artists page for you. BTW. In the end, it's not cheap. One guy offers a half page illustration for $5. That's $10/page. If the comic is 15 or 20 pages you're looking at spending $150 - $200.

I didn't like a lot of the art I saw on this site. I'm also looking more for someone I can partner with. Having someone to interpret my images would be nice but it's just not what I'm looking for. Thanks anyways though.

It's a really, really big place, but you could try deviantART. I'm subscribed to quite a few talented comic artists (I'll link them when I get home, deviantART is banned on the school computers). Seriously, though, give it a try. There's plenty of people who do classic comic styles.

As for the format and the writing of it, I might be able to help you a little. I don't know exactly where you're at with your knowledge and how you've been formatting your writing, but I've seen a few of the bare bones comic book scripts, and I've tried writing a few of my own scripts, so I'm a little familiar with the basics.
Generally you want to treat it almost like a movie script, with lines spaced out and actions written very explicitly, but perhaps not with as much detail.

That's a good example of a basic script page. The writer is kind of directing the script to the artist, but if you want to you can always do the descriptions yourself, essentially adding the details you'd want the artist to be sure to capture. You want to be sure you set up the number of panels, the placement of those panels, and the contents of said panels. There's a lot of room to work around with scripts, but that's the basic concept if you were looking for something like that. Comic books and Superheroes are my main interest, so if you want any sort of info or if you want to float some ideas or anything, feel free to contact me.

Here's a few of the artists I said I would mention earlier:

yuumei's deviantART page

She does very detailed and complex comics, and could possibly be what you're looking for. Right now she's in the middle of a webcomic called "Fisheye Placebo".

Example:
Fisheye Placebo

Oh, and just for fun:

SlayerSyrena's deviantART page

She's more of a quirky artist, and her comics are more on the fun and humorous side. She's also a pretty big Elder Scrolls fan. (hehehe)

Example:
Game Hijacking

Another fun one:

I don't know if anyone on here has read the origional COH comic books by Blue King Studios, but that's mainly the style I'm going for. The style that you'd see in any modern major comic book.
