Hi,

I am a photographer and know that images uploaded to the internet can be stolen and used by others, without permission.

I also love to write, in particular poetry and would like to start sharing with others.

Do you have concerns that your own work/ writing, uploaded to the internet could be stolen and used by someone else without your permission?

Would love to hear any suggestions regarding how best to protect such writing.

Thanks,

Alcedo

I'm extremely wary of posting original creative works online. My understanding is that once it's posted on the Internet, without some explicit statement of copyright ownership ©, it's considered "published" and it's public domain, or the property of the website to which it was uploaded. But I'm no lawyer.

Then again, I'm so paranoid, I have anxieties about emailing someone a copy of a manuscript, lest it get leaked and become commercially useless to me.

Learn all that you can about "Steganography".

It is where copyright notices are embedded within the digital data of the image in such a way that ordinary visual inspection will not detect it.

Thanks for the replies.

I am aware of the embedding copyright info into digital images. Ty

I think best practice regarding personal writings is probably not to post online, unless the person has no worries about the work being used by someone else.

Thanks again, both :)
