I bought a Yamaha DGX 520, 88 key 500 voice Keyboard.
I've downloaded music theory workbooks and printed them out and bought "Music Theory for Idiots."
I am naturally artistic and talented in the field of art, and singing.

Wish me luck. :D

See, the ultimate motive is some reason to get a girl date to come to my house... that way we can "share" the keyboard and play tunes together. If she sits really close next to me, one of us can do the treble range and one of us the bass range. See how clever I am? (Actually, I thought of this possibility only after I brought the expensive toy home). As opposed to just about every other musical instrument, the Piano sized keyboard can have two players sharing it.

:D

(ps, naturally I find it very amusing that the normal response of the aspie community is to take my "wish me luck" comment too literally)

Awesome, best of luck to you. I've been considering buying that model (or the YPG-525, which is essentially the same keyboard from a different marketing division) for a while. I've enjoyed my Yamaha PSR-510 for about 12 years, but 88 lightly weighted keys and better voices is very, very appealing :)

I had a part-time job working in a music store once... and although I didn't know how to play when I started, by the time I had been there a couple months I was fairly good. Good luck.

Best of luck to you, both on learning piano and finding a girl who actually knows music.

Ahh, I see  And nope, it's not like that everywhere. I usually can't stand rap (with the exception of U Can't Touch This, and the theme from Fresh Prince of Bel-Air).

Music is like candy. You have to throw away the rappers.

LMAO at those last two replies. I'll have to remember that next time I talk to the guys at work who like hip hop.
