I've recently started keeping a Journal, writing in it every other day or so, I started it out of boredom and a wish to keep an archive of my thoughts for future reference for some memoir or whatever, I don't know, Its been almost a week anyway and I'm on my 4th entry.

Any of You ever kept or are keeping journals or diaries?

I keep a journal and have found it to be quite helpful, but I usually only make about one entry per week. It's interesting to look over older entries and see how thoughts/ideas have changed or stayed the same over time.

Ohhh yeahh. I love journaling. I have one and a half books finished now. Not books, but you know... journals. I very much enjoy reading them over and realizing how much time has passed and realizing how much I've learned despite how little I think is going on. I need to be a little bit more prudent with it though. I've been slacking a lot because I spend hours writing, and I often don't have hours.

I've kept an online journal for about eight years now. Handwriting takes too long, so I wouldn't have the patience for a pen and paper diary. Unlike other posters, I tend to get disgusted and sort of embarrassed when I go back and read things from my younger self, particularly if I've changed a lot.

I used to journal. It helped me sort out my feelings. I don't do it much any more. I try to practice mindfulness. I don't go in-depth analyzing my feelings. I focus more on feeling my feelings and letting them go.

I think journaling is great when you are in a lot of emotional pain and don't know why. I use the stream of consciousness approach to journaling. I write whatever comes to mind and I don't stop until I feel like there is nothing left to write about. I don't go back and read it. I just leave everything on the page.

Not really. Part of me wants to, in the crazy chance that I become an author so famous (or do something so extraordinary) that people demand to know my life story, but then I realize a.) just how horrible a protagonist I would make and b.) I haven't really done anything interesting/worth mentioning in my life...at least not since I was, like, 12.

On the other hand, writing in a journal could help me remember things that my ADHD makes me forget...

I kept a journal almost religiously for a few years. I'm glad I did, it helped me sort out my thoughts and identify a few bad trends in my behavior. Since I started working and got back in school I don't do it nearly as much. I used to do it twice or three times a week, now it's more like twice a month. It's painful reading about my mistakes, but it's worth it because I become a better person that way.
