I am reading reports today about the case involving Charles Rankowski with mixed emotions.
Although I can sympathise with the child's dissability, having a son who is autistic, I cannot agree that the Rankowski family is being fully responsible based on the reports I have read.
It seems to me that the decision of the city regarding the use of the playground was made with the safety of other children in mind. Those of us with autistic children have to understand that our kids are not always going to respond properly in certain, social situations and it is our duty to be there and help them through them.
Hoping that I am wrong, but afraid I am not, I must come to the conclusion that the Rankowski family is using this incident for profit more than the welfare of their child and can only hope they do not damage the genuine plight of parents such as us around the world with their mis-guided fight.
