I've only heard a few of their songs, but what I have heard I especially liked.

The new album is a bit more 'produced' and mellower than previous records. It's pretty good, but I prefer the older stuff.

...especially their work with Frank!

I used these two in my novel.
Saw them on the Colbert Report, they were cute.

i've been listening to it and i would have to agree, so far it does sound more produced and pop-ish than usual. if i had to pick a favourite album of theirs it would be brothers, i think.

Yeah, they aren't the Indy lo-fi blues-rock band they were in the days of Thickfreakness.

But I think they've been evolving from raw rock to more polished pop all along. If you listen to their albums in sequence, each one seems a bit more refined than the last.

the lo-fi blues rock is what i fell in love with, that raw unfiltered quality. if they complete this evolution i may have to stop listening--i don't like polished pop that anyone can make with a producer and an auto-tuner.

^^^ Hey, I feel you! Rubber Factory is probably my favorite album. That's pretty lo-fi and raw.

I don't think you'll have to worry about them using and auto-tuner or sounding like Justin Bieber anytime soon!

now, speaking of Rubber Factory:

I like their recorded music but I haven't listened to their most recent record yet. I'm not so much of a fan that I'm going to buy their album and they haven't yet released it on any music streaming services, which is how I currently consume 99% of my music. I feel like it's very backwards of them to not release on streaming services, though clearly them make enough money to not care too much. I did see them live at a festival when they were promoting El Camino; they were a bit underwhelming.

Not exactly my type of music but I'd rather listen to them than Jack White.

i've always had a love of raw bluesy rock (which i believe crystalised back in high school with jimi hendrix), so i was really happy when i found these guys.
