We could start with the Harry Potter books which I am almost done with but would love to discuss. I guess one at a time. Or we could read one HP book, then something else, then the next hp book.

Discuss book choices below.

How about Harry Potter and the Methods of Rationality?

Hunger Games triology would be a good one to discuss as well.

I am a slow reader, and I like non-fiction, if there is anyone else out there in that category. Also, naturally, I have narrow interest ranges, but the idea of a book club is appealing to me.

Here are some authors I like and would like talking about with others: Stephen Jay Gould (evolution both natural and technological), Christopher Hitchens (the ultimate religion-pounding polemicist), Ivan Illich (social thinker of unusual perspective and depth), Joseph Atwill ("Ceasar's Messiah", NT origins), John Hudson (Shakespear's Dark Lady), or other books about first century history or the Shakespeare authorship question.

Maybe we could do both. I would do those authors.

Wow! OK. I probably should read some Harry Potter and similar books given how popular they are. Of the subject categories I listed above, which ones are most appealing to you? Of Harry Potter, it is a series, right, so you have to start at the beginning? Or can you jump in and still figure out what is going on and have a conversation about it?

Series, yes, you start with one.

It's not the kind of books I usually read but they are fun to read.

I would definitely be game for this, although I don't have any suggestions for books. I would just go with the flow... I'd prefer fiction, but I'm also interested in non-fiction.

I usually read fiction, but non-fiction would be good too. If we start of with Harry Potter books I'd defenitly need to reread the early ones (it's been years), and my memories are mostly replaced by movie facts.

I've been meaning to read that and maybe it would be cool if we could include it somewhere down the road. :)

Oh yeah, I never finished it - it would be great incentive.
