I have loved this artist since I was quite young. He did the music to quite a few films, including 'Bladerunner' and 'Chariots Of Fire', and in the earlier stages of his career, did joint albums with a singer called Jon. Really geat music, If I do say so myself. :)

Chariots of Fire and Blade Runner... that's some great stuff. I do have to say, no offense, that the first song is probably some of the worst music I've ever heard. But hey, nobody hits a home run every time ;)

I knew about Vangelis but only heard "Chariots of Fire" and also the song "I'll Find My Way Home" instrumental version.

Thanks for putting the youtube videos, really great music, I loved Alpha the best.

you should check out the greek band 'aphrodite's child'. vangelis was a member of this band during the mid to late 60s before he started recording solo music. demis roussos was also a member.

check this out... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=selfqEH- ... ed&search=

the video is quite poor, obviously just made by some fan, but the song is excellent.

I've got several of his albums - great music

I love the Conquest of Paradies theme

What's the last video Graelwyn? I've not heard that one before.

I love Memories of Green, especially with all those weird and wonderful futuristic effects in the background.

I recently got obsessed with finding Bladerunner bootleg albums with alll the unreleased Vangelis music. Some good stuff out there!

Its also so good that he was never educated in music. Respect to the man.

I liked his album "El Greco". The music, like an El Greco painting, is sometimes
dark, somber and moody and other times very bright, colorful and quite melodic.
Each of the first nine movements represents a stage in the artist's life, the tenth
movement is the epilogue.

Maybe Jon Anderson of the band Yes ? It's a guess. Anderson did an album w/Kitaro, and also one with Transglobal Underground.
I like some of Vangelis' music, since it's instrumental (w/o lyrics) I don't know the names of songs. Like the spooky atmospheric stuff, don't know how to explain in words. The first 45 (record album) I bought as a kid was his theme to Chariots of Fire.
