Someone created a thread on their five favourite movies.
So how about about we do one on their five favourite song writer/ musicians of the last 50 years?

I'd also include Elvis Costello, David Byrne, Joe Jackson, Peter Gabriel, Paddy McAloon (Prefab Sprout), Ray Davies (The Kinks), Bryan Ferry (Roxy Music), Tim Smith (Cardiacs), Thomas Dolby, Neil Hannon (The Divine Comedy) and Stan Ridgway (Wall of Voodoo), along with the standards of Lennon/McCartney and Brian Wilson. All phenomenal talents who I learned many, many things from.
