http://reductress.com/post/harper-lee-t ... ckingbird/ - Almost 55 years after the hit (but yet controversial for its time) novel To Kill a Mockingbird was released, Harper Lee, who's now in her mid-90s, is coming out with a sequel to the novel. Basically, what it amounts to is that's it is an all-male reboot of the famous novel, set 20 years after the original. This is going in the other direction of the Paul Feig all-female Ghostbusters reboot.

I'm pretty sure that's a joke.

This is not factually accurate.

"Go Set A Watchman" was written before "To Kill A Mockingbird", and "TKAM" was derived from the flashbacks it contains. It isn't a "reboot".

As for "all male" - the only confirmed characters are Scout and Atticus. It isn't all male.

"Scout" is the daughter of Atticus, and "Go Set a Watchman" is a prequel, not a sequel.

The New York Times wrote:
On Tuesday, Ms. Lee’s publisher announced its plans to release that novel, recently rediscovered, which Ms. Lee completed in the mid-1950s, before she wrote "To Kill A Mockingbird". The 304-page book, "Go Set a Watchman", takes place 20 years later in the same fictional town, Maycomb, Ala., and unfolds as Jean Louise Finch, or "Scout", the feisty child heroine of "To Kill a Mockingbird", returns to visit her father. The novel, which is scheduled for release this July, tackles the racial tensions brewing in the South in the 1950s and delves into the complex relationship between father and daughter.

From what I understand, the book Go Set A Watchman had actually been written prior to To Kill A Mocking Bird, but Harper Lee wasn't able to sell it. So, she took flashbacks from the book, and used them as the story in Mocking Bird. Funny that there was never any interest in publishing the book till now, considering the success of Mocking Bird.

Oh, jeez! I must've misread a lot in this article. Mea culpa.

Don't feel bad, it was written in pretty serious tone. I just happen to know about the book or might have believed it too.
