E-textbooks are good sometimes because they're searchable. However, there's a bit of research that seems to indicate that e-texts aren't so good for learning/comprehension.

For me it really depends on WHAT I'm reading on. I absolutely cannot read pages and pages of text on a laptop screen. I really need a good, hi-res tablet screen. Currently, I'm using a Gal-tab S for reading e-textbooks and journal articles. However, whenever I'm collecting info for a research project or if I really NEED to study an article in-depth, I always print it out... It's just easier/better for me to consume that way.

However, the thing I REALLY hate about e-textbooks is that they cost as much or more than traditional textbooks (even though they cost much less to produce) and you cannot sell them when your class is done. :x

I recently took a class where the instructor wrote the text we used. The text itself was horrible, written like an expanded doctoral dissertation in APA format (which is probably what it was). AND, it was only available as an e-text!! !

So, I was stuck paying full price for a text I will NEVER refer to again, and I cannot even sell it to get some of my money back.

At least, with traditional textbooks, I can buy them used and sell them after class and get 75%-85% of my money back...

In short, I think e-textbooks suck!

Your mileage may vary.
