marcb0t's Sega Genesis Music =0
Hello,
As I mentioned, I make Sega Genesis chiptunes, and it is one of my special interests. Basically, I use software that allows me to program music using the sound chips found inside the old video game system.
For those who don't know, Sega Genesis was a 16-bit game system released in the US back in 1989. Games such as "Sonic the Hedgehog", "Streets of Rage", and "Toejam & Earl" made their first appearance on this system.
Inside were actually 2 soundchips. The first was a 6-channel stereo FM synthesizer chip (Yamaha YM2612). This one could use one of the channels for 8-bit sampled sounds playing up to 32kHZ (not bad, really).
The other sound chip was for PSG tones. You know, like the original Super Mario Bros. tune. It has 3 channels for the blips and bleeps (square tones), and can do white noise and a couple of other cool things.
It has a real retro sound that I like, and grew up with, and now I can shape it into whatever I want. Check out a couple of my most complete tracks:

Enjoy!

Sorry for the late reply. And I'm glad you enjoyed it. Game developers rarely used the sound chip to its full advantage. Some games sound cheap and half hearted, but others like Sonic games, Ristar, Phantasy Star 4 worked wonders with the limited hardware.
It was a pretty strong interest of mine for awhile. Especially using feature called "Special Mode" which made Channel 3 act like 4 separate notes. No one has really made use of it. I've been doing experimentation though, and it really adds an extra depth to the sound.
Talk about special interests.

Yeah, maybe in the future I'll have more tunes to share.
So take care!
