Hi,

singing is my biggest passion and today I recorded a cover of Evanescence - Like you. I only have a cheap headset unfortunately, so the sound quality is bad. But I'm always grateful for reviews. I'm quite pleased with it, except for a few parts.

This is only my personal reflection, i listened to the original track and the woman was more whispering the words than singing them. While your singing is above average, it is stronger/louder than the music itself.

So my advice is to normalise the voice with the rest of the music so it does not stand out too much and almost "hide" the rest of the sound.

I'd you're hitting most of the notes. It could be the quality of the recording, but your voice doesn't match Amy Lee's timbre-ly. You seem to be trying to get volume more than anything else, you need to put more of yourself in to it (wishy-washy musician terminology I know). Singing from your stomach, and really feeling what you are singing will produce a much better result than just trying to belt it out. More practice should help fill out your sound.

I actually really like this song, so have listened to the original many, many times, so I may be being overcritical, but I would like to hear more. If I was still in an active band and came across you, I'd certainly trial you as singer.

You sing very well, but the quality of recording doesn't do justice with the song. You prolly used a smartphone for it, and it sounds like you recorded it in the shower or something with all that reverb/wet signal overwhelming your dry voice.

I suggest you at least consider buying a proper mic with proper diaghpram and membrane. Make sure it has XLR input, not those 5$ toy mics. It would do wonders to your voice, immidiately and drastically.

P.S, you don't want to record with a headset.
