I got diagnosed during winter break of 7th grade, and when we got back to school, I was immediately placed in the Resource program despite getting mostly A's and B's. I continued to be put in these classes for the next three years despite not needing them, and it was pretty obvious to everybody that I really had no reason to be in there. I never protested much, however, because I liked the classes for the most part. I could catch up on some homework or do whatever the heck I wanted. So why would I want to get out of that? Finally, when I was signing up for classes for my junior year, the Resource teacher said he didn't think I needed to be in the class, so that was the end of that. I was happy that I didn't have to be put in a class that I didn't need to be in, but I was disappointed that I wouldn't have a class of doing whatever I wanted.

In 7th and 8th grade, I did have helpers that went to my classes whom I rarely needed. The one in 7th grade seemed sort of hurt that I never really needed her, and I had a lot of problems getting along with the one in 8th grade.

I was going to be put into special ed, but my parents did not allow that to happen.

Some people are put into special ed because they need extra help or have special needs that need to be fulfilled.
